Do You need an Emergency Dentist in Virginia Beach?

I did a Google search for emergency dentist Virginia Beach the other day when I was in desperate need, and pain, from a broken back tooth that had gotten so bad I could not eat or sleep or do much of anything besides think about the awful pain I was in.

I did manage to find a few dentists in Virginia Beach who would be willing to see me, a week from Tuesday that is!!!  I needed a dentist now!

I’ll admit that the situation I found myself in was completely my fault.  I had not seen a dentist in over two decades and although my teeth are in pretty good shape, they are not at all where they need to be… I could use a good thorough cleaning for sure and a couple of cavities filled.

However, what I needed immediately was a dentist in Virginia Beach who could see me right now, an emergency dentist, and pull out the broken and painful back molar that was causing me so much strife.

I could not wait until a week from Tuesday, nor could I wait another hour before I swallowed a bottle of aspirin in hopes of ending it all!  Yes, the tooth pain was that bad.  But alas, no emergency dentist could be found on Google or anywhere I looked and I nearly cried for the first time in 20 years.

Lucky for me I decided to try and drown my pain with a six pack of beer and drove up to the convenience store near my house with every intention of buying as much alcohol as my credit card would allow and drinking myself into a painless stupor.

I have been going into this little store for almost six years now on a pretty regular basis but had never noticed the business that sat right next door to it.

On this day though the stars were all aligned properly and I could not get into the store’s parking lot because some delivery guy with a load of my beer had decided to park across half the available spots and I was forced into the parking lot of the adjacent business to get myself off the street and out of oncoming traffic.

I looked at the little sign above the doorway and to my surprise I was actually sitting in front of a dentist office!

I got out of the truck and went in.  This was not your typical fancy office by any stretch of the imagination but there were people in there and I heard drills buzzing away in the background so I figured I’d see if they had any emergency openings available.

And they did!  They saw me right then and there.  The really nice lady at the front desk said that when someone is in pain all ears perk up and everything possible is done to see that person right away.

I was afraid of what this might cost me because I did not have dental insurance.  The sweet lady just smiled and said I would be able to afford it and gave me some papers to fill out.

The awesome thing about all this was the fact that I walked in off the street and was seen quicker than I had ever been seen by any type of doctor, even when I had an appointment!

My tooth was yanked less than 30 minutes after having walked through the door!

Now, my traumatic experience with a dentist while in the navy some 20 years earlier had kept me from seeing a dentist on a regular basis but this dentist quickly calmed my fears and his staff was so nice and professional and I quickly felt at ease and let them do their thing… which they did extremely well!

My whole visit was less than an hour and under $275 from start to finish.  I’m no longer in pain and have set an appointment to get my teeth cleaned and to address some other issues I have.

If you need a good dentist and live in Virginia Beach, Dr. Bek is your man.  I was so impressed with this outfit that I created a blog and a few videos to spread the word. He is also a member of the American Dental Association so you will be in good, and regulated, hands.

Yep, “Emergency Dentists Virginia Beach” is what I typed into the Google search bar and if you are looking for that service too then hopefully you found me and will take my advice and go see Dr. Bek… He and his staff are the best!!

Okay, I finally got around to doing a video for the Emergency Dentist Virginia Beach website!

Here is the story again and what I put in the description box at YouTube:

I created a blog called Emergency Dentist Virginia Beach awhile back to talk about my experience with a local dentist and to share some basic information in general about caring for your teeth.

I started to realize that most people do not do this sort of thing… generally the only time someone goes to the trouble of making a website about a business or person it is to talk badly about them.

Well, I could never talk badly about the dentist in Virginia Beach who got rid of the incredible pain I was in and if you or someone you know is experiencing this type of pain I sure hope you watch this video and maybe check out my site and then go see Dr. Bek!

Now I don’t know much about dentistry or what a bridge or caps or root canals are or how a dentist goes about applying veneers or whitening your teeth, but what I do know is that if you have a broken tooth or cavity and the nerve endings are exposed to air… well my friend, that is some serious pain!!!

This is the kind of pain that is all consuming and can affect your whole body and make you irritable as all get out.

The only thing worse is when you finally decide to do something about it and you call up a dentist in Virginia Beach, begging for him to see you like right now and they set the appointment for the following Tuesday!

That is exactly what happened to me and I was about to lose it when I noticed a dentist office right next to the 7-11 I was pulling into to grab a case of beer to try and numb my pain.

I’m out here in Pungo and the office is right where they have the Strawberry festival… I had never even noticed it before.

Anyway, I went in and to my surprise the receptionist said they could see me right away and next thing I know this cute little dental assistant was doing an x-ray of my broken tooth and getting me ready for the dentist to yank the sucker out!

A few minutes later the tooth had been extracted and once the bleeding was under control they wrote me a prescription for some Vicodin and antibiotics and sent me on my way.

The whole visit cost less than $300, which I’m completely fine with and would have paid much more, and I am now back in business!

If you looked online for Emergency Dentist Virginia Beach and came across this video I sure hope you will give Dr. Bek and his staff a chance to take care of you.

Keeping your teeth clean and healthy is important, but do you know exactly how bacteria combines with your saliva to form tartar which can lead to all sorts of nasty dental problems like Gingivitis and tooth loss?

Yeah, me neither but here is a really cool video on what can happen and what you can do to prevent tooth decay and other dental catastrophes!

Pretty interesting, huh?

I’m the last person on earth to give advise about seeing the dentist but I can say I wish I knew then what I know now and would have seen a dentist regularly for cleanings… and so should you!

Everyone I know says coffee is bad for your teeth but what I think they mean to say is that it stains your teeth.  Here at Emergency Dentist Virginia Beach we like to get the story straight!

I believe that coffee stains teeth but if you brush your teeth regularly this should not be a problem.  And here is the cool thing, I just found an article that says drinking coffee, which I do a lot of, is actually good for your oral health, including reducing your risk for cancers in the mouth!

Link Between Coffee and Dental Care – Lower Your Oral Cancer Risk

Studies have already shown that coffee may benefit dental care by reducing the risk of developing cavities. Now there’s even more good news for java junkies. Researchers have discovered that drinking a lot of coffee actually lowers your risk of mouth and throat cancer.

According to the findings featured in WebMD, people who drink more than four servings of coffee daily have nearly a 40% lower chance of contracting mouth or throat cancer when compared to people who don’t drink coffee. For those who drank less than five cups of coffee daily, the level of protection fell to still significant 4% lower odds for contracting mouth and throat cancer for each cup of coffee consumed each day. Protection for oral and pharyngeal cancer was evident, but protection against cancer of the larynx was not.

Coffee’s protective effect was shown to remain intact even for drinkers and smokers, despite the fact that tobacco and alcohol consumption are linked to head and neck cancers. Additionally, the protection effect didn’t demonstrate a boost by consuming fruits and vegetables, which are also known to protect against head and neck cancers.

The researchers at the University of Milan reached these findings when they analyzed nine studies comparing 5,139 people with head and neck cancer to 9,028 people without cancer.

So, which ingredient in coffee is responsible for reducing the risk of oral cancer? The study dismissed caffeine as a likely possibility since drinking tea, even in mass quantities, was not protective.

The researchers pointed out that coffee contains hundreds of chemicals. Of those, cafestol and kahweol have anti-cancer properties. However, future studies will have to determine more decidedly if these chemicals actually protect against cancer in people.

Previous studies in Wired Magazine have credited Trigonelline, an alkaloid, in coffee as a cavity-fighting agent. While the ingredient is recognized for giving coffee its taste, it’s also proven to prevent craters from forming in teeth, averting the cavity-causing bacterium Streptococcus from attaching to teeth.

The American Dental Association reminds us that coffee alone cannot create optimal dental health. In fact, excess coffee can stain teeth. The ADA recommends traditional dental care that includes brushing twice daily, flossing each day, eating a balanced diet, and regularly visiting the dentist.

Okay, great news today becasue I’m not giving up my coffee!!!

I would never say that going to the dentist is fun, or funny… unless it is someone else sitting in the examination chair!

At emergency dentist virginia beach it is a good thing to keep things in perspective and although having a dental emergency can be quite a nightmare, we should never take life so seriously that we become miserable to ourselves and those around us.

So, we take a break from talking about what a great dentist Dr.  is and pause to share a laugh with you.

I hope you find the following video funny and can find a moment to smile… and speaking of smiles, if yours is not where it should be I sure hope you give my favorite dentist in Virginia Beach a call.

Enjoy the video!

This site, Emergency Dentist Virginia Beach, is getting a few visits each day now and I sure hope people are taking my advise and setting an appointment with Dr Bek to take care of their emergency dental needs.

However, you do not need to be in pain or discomfort to go see them.  In fact, it is better to visit a dentist BEFORE you actually really need one.

I’m in the service business by trade and people tend to call me when things are no longer working and they are in great discomfort.  If they had called me before things broke down and had me do some preventitive maintenance, they would not find themselves in these desperate situations.  Makes sense, right?

Same is true for your teeth I suppose.  You can brush and floss and do all the right things but you still need to visit a dentist each year to get a professional cleaning or to handle small problems before they become big ones.

A recent study stated that tooth and gum health was linked to disease in the body.  I’m not sure how true that all is because I do not trust the medical establishement and know that these studies can be influenced by those with the most to gain.

But, what I do know is that a healthy smile can affect both your professional and personal life in a positive way and you only have one set of grown up teeth so you need to take care of them.

Anyway, if you need an emergency dentist in Virginia Beach, or you just want to make an appointment to get your teeth cleaned, Dr. Bek is you man.  You have my word that he and his staff will take super great care of your and your family at a price you can be comfortable with!

Okay, so I talked in my first post about my need for an emergency dentist a couple of weeks ago and being unable to find one… at least in the traditional way.

I was lucky to have stumbled upon an amazing dentist in Virginia Beach that would not only see me right away but had a great bedside manner and did a great job at a great price.  I got lucky, no question about it.

But, I can still remember the frustration I felt before coming across Dr.  and his great staff so I wanted to do something about it.  This blog is that something.

Hopefully my site will rank highly on Google and anyone searching for emergency dentist Virginia Beach, or something close to that, will find this information and make use of it.

I still have a lot of work that needs to be done on my teeth and I would be lying if I said I was looking forward to it, because I’m not.  Going to the dentist can be painful if you have neglected your teeth and nothing is going to change that.

Hopefully you will find a dentist that can minimize this pain and the pain that you feel after the procedure, both in your mouth and in your wallet!

Pain is a powerful motivator and many dentist will use this to their financial advantage.  When you are is severe pain, the kind of pain that consumes your entire life, you will spend just about every penny you may have to find relief, and many dentist do not mind taking your last penny.

Dr.  does not seem to be motivated by money.  Maybe I’m wrong but I would have paid a lot more to get my tooth pulled the other day and he and his staff knew it but did the right thing and only charged me what now seems a very fair price.

I’m spreading the word about this awesome dental outfit in Virginia Beach so they must be doing something right!
